About Texas Hold'em

Texas Hold ‘em is by far the most popular form of poker throughout the world, online and in casinos, and the No-Limit form is the most common type of Texas Hold ‘em that you will find. To learn the game, you should play Limit Texas Hold ‘em at a low-limit table first. Limit games have structured betting rounds that limit the amount players can bet each round, allowing you to learn the game without the threat of an opponent forcing you to go all-in in a no-limit game.

This game is easy to understand but difficult to master. Players are dealt a hand of two cards. These are called hole cards. There are five community cards dealt on the table, face up, throughout the betting rounds, which you can use to make the best five-card hand, along with one or both of your hole cards. Each hand starts out with the blinds being posted by the player to the left of the dealer (the small blind) and the next player to the left of the small blind (the big blind). The other players do not have to post a bet, but as the “dealer” position rotates, each player will eventually be in the seats of the small and big blinds.

After the blinds are posted, each player is dealt two face-down cards. The player to the left of the big blind can "Call", "Raise" or "Fold". The betting continues around the table until it returns to the small blind. The small blind can "Call" by contributing the remainder of the big blind to the pot, and if no one has raised, the big blind can raise or "Check", which means they do not put any more money into the pot.

After the first round of betting is complete, the "Flop", or the first three community cards, are laid face up on the table. A second round of betting will follow. Then the "Turn", or the fourth community card, is revealed and the bet for the next round increases. The final round of betting reveals the "River" card, or the fifth and last community card. The player who has the best five-card hand using one or both of his hole cards and the five community cards wins the pot, or if two players have a tie, the pot is split.
